Our Story!

Our Story…

roaster In May of 2013, Sean was on active duty at the Pentagon and Keely was a school social worker. Looking forward, they wanted to create a business in an area they were passionate about and could build together. Their chosen area was coffee with an original plan of importing an Indonesian coffee Sean knew from his time in Singapore. Though they scoured the Google tirelessly, the coffee remained elusive. During their research, they came upon the idea of roasting coffee themselves and quickly found a mentor in the business. Monty Ruckman was a retired Navy Senior Chief and helped the new company get on its feet. Exactly one week from the idea for Ricks Roasters Coffee Company, the company delivered its first pound of fresh roasted coffee.
sean-kellyAfter the first year of operation, the company quickly outgrew the space in Sean and Keely’s home.
Ricks Roasters moved to a commercial roasting space in July, 2014. From sales at a single farmer’s market in June of 2013, the company now distributes through over 70 commercial accounts and a branded coffee shop at the Virginia Railway Express station in the town of Quantico, Virginia.

Our growth continues by focusing on the forgotten coffee drinker, the average American who brews their coffee in their Mr. Coffee every morning. We sell specialty coffee without the pretense. As many people as possible should enjoy great coffee. Ricks Roasters will provide access without the pomp and circumstance.

  1. I ordered coffee for local pick-up. Do I come to your home location off US 17 or can I go somewhere else? I did not see an opportunity to select a location during the order process. In the past I have picked up at the shop near the Giant on Worth Avenue off Garrisonville Rd. Could I pick up at Stafford Farmers Market on Sunday?
